Government Liaison | Consulting

During his tenure as counsel to the City of St. Louis, Dan frequently dealt with administrative proceedings and hearings related to the issuance or denial of permits or licenses. Dan has dealt extensively with the process for liquor licensure in the City as counsel to the Excise Commissioner and the Excise Division. Dan has also represented the Board of Adjustment, Civil Service Commission, and the Board of Public Service.

If you are a business owner trying to deal with the various bureaucracies of government, you need to have experienced counsel navigating your way to get the permit or license you seek. Many licenses, especially liquor licenses, require neighborhood consent, relationships with local politicians, and submitting evidence at hearings. These hearings are often times the only opportunity an applicant has to present evidence for the particular issue, even if a lawsuit has to be subsequently filed.

As a small business owner himself, Dan understands how critical matters relating to your business can be, and how difficult it can be to get matters resolved with local government to put your business in the best position to succeed.

Dan spent 10 years representing government in matters relating to small businesses and gained the knowledge and experience to ensure your business is treated fairly. Dan also comes from a family that owns, or has owned, several restaurants which, coupled with the knowledge and experience as counsel to the Excise Division, makes me uniquely qualified to assist you in any matters related to securing a license to sell alcohol.
